We’d an incredible 4 days to experience Venice, it is a remarkable city with its glittering towering Campanile and gold Basilica in St Mark’s Square.
In case you go to Venice do not overlook the ornate Doge’s Palace along with my favourite place, the elegant Peggy Guggenheim Modern Art Museum. There’s very much to see and, of course, wherever you go you see the iconic canals and gondolas.

VENICE AND GONDOLAS
In case you go to Venice take a drive in a gondola, it’s costly though it’s such an excellent experience. We’d the great fortune to be in Venice at the exact same time as my blogging friend Christina of Christina’s Cucina. We met up with Christina and the mom of her on the very first night of ours in Venice for a pre dinner drink. and believed that would be our best opportunity to be together.

Did you realize that gondolas are actually counterweighted so they balance evenly when the gondolier stands to only one side? They’re too asymmetrical in shape because the gondolier uses just one oar because of the narrowness of the canals. In case they were straight they’d just go round in circles!

What exactly are CICCHETTI?
They’re easy appetisers you consume with an aperitif in the bars of Venice. We did not really have some Cicchetti in Venice. We had taken the Vaparetto (water bus) to visit the Venetian island of Burano and I watched a Cicchetteria and then decided we simply had to try out these local delicacies.

We asked for a choice of Cicchetti and this came on a solid wood board. There was with slices of slices and bread of cool polenta topped with fish and veggies or maybe sea food, like tomatoes and artichokes.
There was also skewers of cooked prawns. It was a truly filling meal and it was enjoyable to try out the various varieties.

We visited Buatno on an extremely warm day, therefore it was wonderful to sit down in the shade beneath that red awning. We each experimented with all of the varieties of Cicchetti and washed down with a nice cool cup of beer.

BURANO AND MURANO
Burano is a lovely island, usually a fishing community. II is also known for its lacemaking and the brightly painted houses that you see in these pictures.
Burano is much more beautiful compared to the island of Murano that is actually known for its glass making, We did visit Murano, though it appeared to be primarily either very high end expensive shops or maybe souvenir stores.

MAKE CICCHETTI AT HOME
When I returned home I needed to recreate these delicious small bites. So I developed Cicchetti three Easy Venetian Appetiser Recipes. These’re Cicchetti style recipes which to make at home with ingredients you are able to get in the grocery store.
I made all the available sandwiches with slices of bread. It is easier and quick than making polenta. I do not make any claim that my Cicchettii recipes are actually authentic. What I have attempted to do is actually recreate several of the flavours from this particular plate of Cicchetti we enjoyed on the gorgeous Venetian island of Burano.
